Join Bird Diva, Bridget Butler in the practice of Slow Birding and awaken your innate birding skills and reconnect with nature.
She’ll share a variety of techniques that will help you look at birds, listen to them and interpret their behavior that will not only build your skills as a naturalist but will provide you with a practice that will allow you to slow down and reconnect with the natural world.
Birding can be competitive and methodical or it can be mindful and meditative. Recent studies have shown that noticing birds can improve your mental health, reduce depression and improve memory and attentiveness. Throughout the weekend we'll use sit-spots as a foundation for strengthening our observation skills of birds and deepening our connection to place.
The weekend will begin late Friday afternoon with an introduction to sit spots, dinner and an evening lecture & discussion. The Saturday session will have a pre-breakfast bird walk, followed by a set of group sit-spots, meals, and mini-workshops. Sunday we'll have another bird walk, breakfast followed by our last sit-spot and then a group reflection to wrap up the weekend together. This schedule & program content may change as needed.
Included in the cost of the weekend are rooms, meals, and all programming. Most rooms are double occupancy including two rooms for couples. Two single occupancy rooms are available on a first-come-first-serve basis at an additional cost.
